Beware! Malware Has Been Discovered On Google Playstore
In case you want to the meaning of malware, it is an "umbrella term used to refer to a variety of forms of hostile or intrusive software, including computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, adware, scareware, and other malicious programs. It can take the form of executable code, scripts, active content, and other software.".
Well, I don't actually know how this malware got to creep into Google Playstore which have successfully affected many applications. This malware is called Dresscode. This malware will create a so called botnet. The attackers are able to use infected devices to route traffic through them. Checkpoint says, the hackers only use it to generate false ad traffics and click and for collecting ad revenue. However, a botnet who is this malware can be used for more serious attacks I.e getting access to companys server and files.
So even though the malware has power to generate ad clicks and traffics, you still have the power to stop to from it from running on your device background orelse it will affect your device performance. Always make sure that your Android device have the latest security patch installed and always be careful of what you download in apps store.
